D*I*Y Planner 3.0 (Classic/A5 Edition)

Do no evil...

Welcome to D*I*Y Planner 3.0 (Classic/A5 Edition), a set of free do-it-yourself templates, covers, documentation and other gear for creating your own highly customised paper planner system. A year in the making, this new version includes nearly 200 pages of forms covering life management, calendars, project planning, note-taking, health, finance, and even creative uses like writing, storyboards, and web design. With some basic supplies, the handbook, and a little elbow grease, you can create an ideal low-cost productivity system that meets almost every need.

Lighthouse CoverThis release is formatted for both Classic (5.5"x8.5", half letter-size) and A5 sizes. (For those interested, a Hipster PDA version is slated for late March.)

Some highlights of version 3.0:

  • Inspired by David Allen's Getting Things Done, but flexible enough to be used for almost any productivity method, including almost any of your own devising. Reference charts are included for GTD, including one specially designed for the D*I*Y Planner.
  • A core package which includes nearly 100 pages of forms, formatted for both odd and even pages, covering everything from action lists to project management to contact information to finances.
  • Dozens of variations on daily, weekly and monthly calendars, including both Sunday-Saturday weeks (as used in North America) and Monday-Sunday weeks (as used in Europe and elsewhere). No matter how you want to track your time, there's probably a suitable form here. Dated monthly and yearly calendars are also included.
  • A creativity package for writers, artists, web designers and other creative types. Other packages cover note-taking and health & fitness.
  • A number of very flexible forms for tables, sketches, lists, and almost anything else you'd need to record and track.
  • A number of pre-built covers, along with do-it-yourself templates in OpenOffice.org 2 format for creating your own personalised ones.
  • A more professional, consistent and streamlined look and feel than previous versions.
  • A detailed handbook covering basic supplies, planner options, template descriptions, printing instructions, productivity advice, and notes on setting up your own ideal planner system. A quick-start Beginner's Guide is also available.
  • FrankenFormTired of wasting tonnes of paper trying to get your printer settings just right? Enter the FrankenForm, a special template for testing and tweaking your setup for optimal output.

Find this kit useful? Consider making a small donation to support this project. The button below will allow you to use a credit card or PayPal account to send us whatever sum you think appropriate for the product; we appreciate all support, no matter how much or how little.

Please note that, owing to the vastly increased size of the system, we have split it up into a number of specialised packages. As each one is improved or added to, we will update that package separately. (Stay tuned to the home page for all updates.)

All files are available in both Classic format (5.5"x8.5", half letter-size) and international A5 format. Please click on the right format for your country. (If you're not sure, you probably want Classic.)

The packages are released under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No-Derivatives license, which means that they are free for personal and non-commercial use. "Getting Things Done" and its related concepts are copyright David Allen, All Rights Reserved.

My deepest thanks and appreciation go out to all you dear folks in the DIYPlanner community who have contributed so many top-notch suggestions, bits of advice, snatches of inspiration, and the occasional (well-meaning) boot to the head. Please see the Production Team credits for the million monkeys at work, and be sure to visit our good friend, illustrator Brad Reid, who contributed the wonderful "do no evil" illustration above for our snazzy new cover. Nate Howland deserves our appreciation for once more going above and beyond the call of duty by providing us with the 2-Up versions. And, of course, we have to be sure to mention Mr. David Allen, whose book was the inspiration for this project: a deep and heartfelt thank-you from all of us who have discovered newfound productivity because of you.

The new version...

As I wrote yesterday...

this version rocks... Nice looking templates and a very good work.

My forehead reach the ground when I bow...

Thanks to all hardworking people...

// Popeye

Cool stuff

Cool planner. Thanks!

Looks Great!

Looks fantastic! I'll be enthusiastically waiting for the hPDA version.

Fabulastic!! Mega-incredimazing!!

Talk about dumbfounded and speechless!!

The time, effort and thought are apparent in this new version 3.

THANK YOU from the bottom of my organizer.

My hipster awaits your magic!!

A4 version of DIY Planner V3

The new templates look great, well done for an excellent job. Is there a plan and date to create a letter / A4 version?

Letter-size and A5 DiyP3

I'm afraid our porter to Ltr/A4 has become so inundated by real-world issues that he's no longer able to work on these templates. If there are any brave souls who have a background in Illustrator and would like to take up the torch (much of the work has been done), please contact me.

all my best,

An alternative...

I used the Acrobat Reader "scaling" function to print the Classic PDFs as Letter sized and they look GREAT, so I'm going to use that as a stop-gap until the Letter/a4 versions are done.

Looks Great!

I like the use of gradients, a nice touch. Now to wait for the Hipsta versions to complement my planner.

I made some new covers using your templates. Worked Fine!

DIY Planner 3.0 Covers

Feel free to use these covers in your planners! As long as you do not sell them :)

2-up printing

Great job on the 3.0 revisions. A lot of hard work, I'm sure.

Are there 2-up versions of the Classic core package? I have 8-1/2 X 11 paper that is 7 hole punched on the left side as well as perforated and 7-hole punched in the middle of the page. This should work perfectly if I can find the 2-up versions...

Where did you get that paper?

Gridge, where did you find that paper? I'd like to get my hands on some... assuming my fountain pens will like it.

Do you procrastinate?

Pre-punched paper

I've had it for quite a while now - I got a ream years ago. But I see Day-Timer has 200 sheet packs (which make 400 planner sheets) in either plain white or narrow shaded green strips on white paper. The price of either is $15.00. I have used fountain pens almost exclusively for years now and can attest that the green shaded paper is fine for fountain pens. Not sure about the plain white.

Here's the link for green and for white.

If those links don't work, just go to Daytimer.com and enter 20251 (green) or 20581 (white) in the search box.

DiyP3 2-ups

A volunteer with a handy plugin will be attempting this for us (as he's done so wonderfully in the past). Stay tuned to the front page for updates.

all my best,

this is very good, thanks

this is very good, thanks for your hard work!

one question, are you guys no longer doing the 2-up versions?

2-up Version

It looks like you can do the two-up version in Acrobat if you choose the Multiple Pages per sheet under page scaling on the print options. It works well for me.

thanks Dan...will try this

thanks Dan...will try this tonight.

I have a problem downloading

I have a problem downloading the Calendar A5 pdf. I've downloaded it twice, and on both occasions I get an error message when opening the pdf saying that the file is corrupted and couldn't be opened.

Any ideas?

Troubleshooting PDF

Can you be more specific about what you're doing and what applications you're using?

I just downloaded the PDF to verify, and it works fine for me. Note that it requires Adobe Acrobat 6 or up. If you already have 6 or 7, then try downloading it to your hard drive first before opening by using a browser right-click on the link.

Hope this helps.

all my best,

Problem download

I 'Save Target As...'. It downloads without a problem. I then try opening from the saved location on my PC. Adobe Reader 7 starts up, but then I get an error message as follows: 'There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.'

I can download/open your other pdf's (such as the Core Package) without any problems.

Calendar A5 Corrupted?

I've downloaded it and opened it successfully using both Acrobat Pro 7 and Apple Preview on Mac OS X. Can anyone else verify success or failure with this file?

I should add that between

I should add that between yesterday and today I have got myself a new computer and I am having exactly the same problem. :o(

Calendar A5 Corrupted?

I've had a few other people try the file, and they all seem to be having no problems, so this baffles me. Exactly what browser and OS are you using, Fraser?

Browser=MSIE v.6 (pretty

Browser=MSIE v.6 (pretty sure with all latest patches etc)
OS=XP Professional

I have also asked a

I have also asked a colleague (same browser, Adobe and OS) to have a go and she has exactly the same problem.

By all means try emailing the A5 document to me to see if this works.

Acrobat up to date?

This error often means that there's a new tag in the file that your version of Acrobat doesn't understand. Pardon me for reinforcing the tech support image of checking all the obvious stuff first, but I once spent half an hour trying to figure out why I couldn't get a machine to connect to the network before I noticed the cat-5 wasn't seated fully.

2-up versions

Any plans for a two-up version of this in letter? I've been using the 2.0 two-up format, and love it!

2-Up versions

A fearless volunteer has submitted these, and pending a review, should be posted tonight sometime. Stay tuned.

all my best,

I have made a set of 2-Ups also

If you need another set let me know.

This is an amazing resource. Thank you for all your hard work. I can't wait for the 3x5 version.

I have made a set of 2-Ups, where should I put them.

2-up Version -- I'm jonesing...

Any word on the progress of posting a 2-up version on the site? Alternatively, can some of the comment posters who made their own 2-up versions explain how they did it?

2-ups in review

Should be done today. I just want to make sure there's no issues before releasing it.

all my best,

Acrobat Plugins

Through work I have access to the Quite Imposing plugin that does alot of neat features and one of them is the ability to make 2-up, or more, also it can make booklets(which is why we got it).

Quite Imposing Plugin

You hit the nail on the head, Mesach. That's what our volunteer Nate Howland uses to produce our 2-ups (which are now reviewed and in the download listing, by the way). The calendar one requires a lot of planning and the creation of two sets of monthlies, but other than that, the 2-ups produced by it seem fine.

all my best,

This stuff is beautiful. Super job, folks. I especially liked the Receipts Envelope and its out-of-the-box thinking.

Thank you

Hey, that's great. i love it. Thank you very much. What a beautyfull work. I am so excited. Super, thanks very much.

The 3.0 version is fabulous! But as I was wondering... was the covey references and weekly planning taken out? They were really helpful in the last version! could we have them back? thanks!

Mr. Covey's organisation has politely asked that this site cease and desist from using anything bearing his name or terminology specific to his system.

As fro teh weekly planning forms, you will find them in various layouts on pages 23 - 35 of the 3.0 claendar pack.

Whew! Dyslexic fingers this

Whew! Dyslexic fingers this morning! LOL

Aw.. thanks anyways!~ that's such a pity... it was the templates that made me buy e book to use it! =P thanks! =)

Letter size? Anyone? Please? **begs**

I just love this. The templates are great and they are really usefull. I would like to ask, though, please, if it's possible, (kneels down and begs) for a letter sized version. Here in Chile getting anything in a size other than letter is a nightmare, so I even can't print the 2-ups because I can't get a punch!

Please, please, if it's possible, can you do a letter size version?

Try page scaling to get letter size

Using the 1-up templates, try putting under page scaling: Fit to Printer Margins. Then print onto letter size paper.

Letter/A4 Sizes in Limbo

And I'm afraid that these sizes will probably remain in limbo until someone with some Illustrator knowledge and some decent design abilities steps forward as a volunteer. The classic, A5 and Hipster PDA sizes keep me busy enough....

all my best,

You guys simply ROCK !

You guys simply ROCK !

Thank you

Thank you for all you and your team's hardwork.........since I discovered your sites last year your planner/s have proved an invaluable addition to the Filofax Time Management system that I have been trying to perfect for years. Like so many I have tried Day Runner (not that easy to get on this side of the pond), DayTimer (nearly but not quite - a bit too compressed), Franklin Covey(The emotional goals approach doesn't work for me, TimeSystem( I really like the layout but it is very expensive for what it is and despite what their advertising says, slightly inflexible).......which brings me back to the very simple approach adopted by Filofax Time Managment system as opposed to ordinary OTC products. Add DIY Planner to Filofax and you can make your system whatever you need it to be.

Keep up the good work - very much enjoy the articles!

THE diy planner ..

... what more can I say ??

I missed this site last year and spent a bit of money on new pages - but now looking for 2007 (Jan-Dec) calendar (yearly planner, monthly planner etc).

Any chance of seeing it soon?

2007 Monthly Calendars

The yearly 2007 calendar is available in the Classic, A5 and hPDA kits, but I'm afraid it's going to be a while before any classic/A5 monthlies are ready. It's an *awful* lot of work making those things. (It's all manual.) First priority now that the Hipster PDA Edition is out is the final version of the Widget Kit. After that, perhaps we can get to monthlies for 2007.

A Shortcut for new Monthlies - maybe

If they are being done in OO, I think I could write some portable code to put the dates and such in the proper place.

I would need a sample to work from.

follow up on monthlies

Any progress with these? I know the updated widget kit is just getting started, but the end of 2006 is rapidly approaching...

2007 Monthly Calendars - a lateral thought

Do we actually need individually dated 2007 monthly calendars and weekly planner pages?

Is it possible to create a generic set of monthly calendars with week-of-the-year numbering instead of numbering each day individually?

A set with weekly numbered monthly calendars could be reused year after year. With a full-year calendar page issued each year to provide the index.

For example - weeks 1 to 4 in any year will always be January, week 5 will be January/February, weeks 6 to 8 will be February, week 9 will be February/March, etc, etc.

homebrewing tip

The Project Details (A) page, I think it's page 35 in the PDF, is pretty handy for homebrewing recipes. I imagine it would work for any other kind of recipe. I'm using it one page per batch as follows.

Title: Name of the beer, obviously, like "Bloody Stool Oatmeal Stout"
Client: N/A
Start date: Date wort put into fermenter
Target date: Planned or actual bottling/racking date
Description: OG/FG, potential alcohol %, color, bitterness, etc.
Basic resources: Ingredients
Notes: Procedures, observations, results.

This system works well for me. I may eventually get software, like Promash or Beer Master, to manage this stuff, but for now this suffices for my small, casual operation.

Best plans for Classic

I was getting ready to go to Kinko's and print out V3 of the Classic. I finally found a DayRunner that worked for me, and it even has the 3-Holes that I found important.

The question of the day is, which classic should I download. I would think at Kinko's, they have a duplexing printer, so should I pull down the 2-Way classic?

I am excited about scapping the templates that DayRunning passed out and move to V3.

PNG Versions

I want to tell you all you have done an outstanding job with this site and its content. I love it!

Is there any chance that the Classic version will be posted as PNG graphics, as has been done for the Index version? I would like to build my own PDF with just the pages I want, but cannot do so in this size.

Please ;-)

Best Regards,

Help! I'm new to the site...

Everytime I click on the classic calendar download, it takes me to the web page, but there is nothing there. Can anyone shed light on what I am doing wrong?

The Agro-bat Rides Out...

Hi Trisia, Welcome to D*I*Y.

It is not your fault you see a blank page, it is the fault of the Acrobat plugin. When you see the blank page click on File -> Save Page As (Ctrl + S) --> Save. This will download the D*I*Y PDF. Alternatively right click on the link and save from there. Finally reinstall Acrobat Reader three times only to find it has killed the laser printer(*). :(

(*)Exaggerated for dramatic purposes. My printer is not dead, it is merely resting. :D

Endless KUDOS!!!

I stumbled onto this site by accident, and I'm still scraping myself off the ceiling!! HUGE thanks to all who made these downloads happen.

As a newbie to the GTD system, it's a challenge setting up all the right folders and organizers, and this can all be quite intimidating ---- because you want to do it PERFECT!!! Well, the forms at this site will certainly help pave the way to better productivity.

Again, KUDOS~~~~

Thank you so much!

This is so great. I came to this site from alistapart.com and now I'm going to post this to the The Ranch which is a blog for college students. I'm sure they'll love these.

wrong dates on calendar

Did I mis-read it, or does the classic calendar have 2007 pages twice? It looks like someone failed to change the dates to 2008 for the second set of monthly pages. Please advise.

Sometimes I'm just a dork

Yeah, I'm a little slow. I figured it out on my own. Sorry for the stupid, stupid post. hee hee!

Look at the days of the week

Guessing, you should see one set where the week starts with Sunday (US style) and a second where the week starts with Monday (European style)
"I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us." (Calvin and Hobbes/Bill Waterson)

Job Search

Has anyone used the "Job Search" page for the process of interviewing & hiring? I'm gearing up to hire and it seems like these might be handy for that.

I think...

Doug actually made those while in the process of Job hunting. In other words, they wre made in the crucible of real life. I've never used them, but suspect that were I ever in this need, I would jump to these forms ASAP!

Few Clarifications

Can anyone please explain a few things in the core package template.
What all the principals it based on as one is GTD... What are the others?
What is harmony sheet and how to use it?
What is the "PR" in the actions?
What is action quadrant?
What is priority matrix?

Core Package Explained…

What is harmony sheet and how to use it?

Are you familiar with role theory? Simply put, it tells us that rather than being individuals, we are actors playing a never-ending series of interconnected roles while work on self-development has identified four aspects important to healthy living. I.e. Spiritual, Physical, Psychological, and Social.

The idea behind the Harmony Template is very few jobs fulfil every aspect of mental fitness and by making a plan; one is giving oneself permission to do just that.

Filling in the form could not be easier:

  • Head and arm = a physical objective. For example going for a 30 minute run, a 20-minute swim or dancing through the lobby of a smart hotel.

  • Word balloon = a social objective. For example going to dinner party or having an old friend for lunch… :O
  • Light bulb = a psychological or cognitive objective. For example attending a lecture or reading a book.
  • Star = a spiritual objective. For example gardening or listening to a piece of inspiring music.

Notice how we can combine some of the objectives. For example commuting with the spirit of man through manual endeavour: Think of Petrocelli building a house in his garden, well it save on weeding if nothing else. :D

Note: if you are using GTD you might want to add the list of tasks associated with each objective to an Action Form.

What is the "PR" in the actions?

PR stands for Priority as in A, B, C, and D. Or if you prefer 1, 2, 3, and 4.

  • A [1] = Urgent / Important

  • B [2] = Urgent / Not Important
  • C [3] = Not Urgent / Important
  • D [4] = Not Urgent / Not Important

Incidentally, Allen claims A, B, C, and D prioritising is inadequate although does not say why.

What is priority matrix?

If one uses the priority system mentioned above, it is apparently quite easy to become confused as to where one's priorities lay hence the Priority Matrix. ;)

What is action quadrant?

Let us say you think the Priority Matrix is a good idea however, unlike me you are scared to go against 'the system' less someone puts a cage of angry sea otters on your head making you confess to allsorts of heinous Thought Crimes. Well worry no more mon ami the Action Quadrant to the rescue….

As for principle all D*I*Y Templates are system agnostic so whereas GTD stands out for day to day tasks it can be combined with other methods for long term projects, self-development and chronic procrastination.

…O' Brien put down that cage of angry sea otters at once and get back to writing The Book they only asked. :P

Hi Sardonios, Thanks for

Hi Sardonios,
Thanks for your detailed explanation. I would like to read more about the harmony "role theory".

Are you familiar with role theory? Simply put, it tells us that rather than being individuals, we are actors playing a never-ending series of interconnected roles while work on self-development has identified four aspects important to healthy living. Could you please let me know a book or so?
Thanks for your comments.

Here's a site with a good explanation of "Role Theory".

2008 calendar pages?

When will the 2008 calendar pages be ready? (I know, I know - it's only July.... but I try to maintain a school year calendar in my notebook, so I need 2008 already)

Good one.

Good one.

I am planning to use it on my meetings.

Good Work....

definitely need 2008

definitely need 2008 pwease...

When are you going to come up with calendar for 2008? Are you also going to be able to print them in the 2up form. I am a Special Ed. Teacher and just love being able to select just what I need for notes for an IEP meeting. Please keep this going so I can continue to use your site. Thanks for all your work.

For those wanting 2008 already...

For all who are requesting 2008 pages. It is possible to print out non-dated pages from these forms. You don't have to wait until the 2008 pages come out. You can start now. You just have to fill in the dates yourself. If you are lazy like me, on the weekly pages, you can just fill in the week dates at the top, and leave the individual day dates empty. ;-)

Also, if you want monthly pages, look elsewhere on this site for a program written by ygor, which will allow you to print monthly pages on any sized paper that closely match the DIY look, because they are based on it. These are the solutions I would recommend for now.

Also, there are several sites on the web that will also print out monthly pages. Links to them are on this site as well. In fact, one was just mentioned recently--sciral.com, I believe.

We all are hoping to see 2008 pages soon, I believe, but these take lots of work--and I mean lots of work. I've tried it myself, and it is very time-consuming, especially if you want mini calendars, and fancy weekly views.

With the widget kit, it is also possible to create your own, whereby you can also experience personally, just how difficult it can be. ;-)

Oh, one more option! There are templates on this site--very nice ones, in fact, which come, not only in pdf format, but some in Word, some in Excel and some in OpenOffice.org format, which would allow for relatively quick changing of dates from earlier years to 2008. You can check these out as well. Unfortunately, you will need to do the searching yourself. My kids are bugging me to make them pancakes and waffles! ;-) Besides, after all, this is called "Do It Yourself" planner. ;-D

Harmony Pages

You have found a total addict of all things datebook/Time Managment/Levenger catalog-like in me.... this site could be my downfall in giving me even more ideas. :-) I love this, I've been looking for something like this a long time. I'm one of thoe "outside-of-the-box" people - I don't want canned stuff like software from Franklin-Covey, as nice as it is. I want exactly what I want... even if I don't yet know what that is.... So keep up the great work, and if I ever finish any projects that I possibly deem worthy, I will post them here as well.

One question... what are those harmony pages all about? I've read a lot of time management books, and this is a new concept to me. Although, so is life-work balance, so maybe that's my issue....

Thanks all! Great efforts here!

Welcome Di!

YHour question about the Harmony pages is not an uncommon one. If you look back up this thread about 6-8 posts you'll see a description from Sardonios. Or if you use the Search box on the right side of the page, you'll find Doug's original article "Living in Harmony"

I never finish anyth

Harmony Pages

Thank you! I came up with some interesting theories on it last night as I stared at the pages I printed out while waiting for my husband. Now, to see how close I was... lol

Quick !! Get her (?) a Circa catalog !!

You will be Circa-fied. Resistance is futile.
We are the Circa-Borg.

lol yes, I'm a "her" :-)

I've been looking at the circa notebooks in Levenger for a long time. Of course, I want the leather ones, so I've hesitated since I didn't know how well they would work for me. I finally ended up getting the similar thing at Staples, and I must say, I do like the concept. I think I will start with the clear covered ones, and move up to the leather ones. I might get my husband one too. I love their pocket briefcases too. Who am I kidding... I love the entire catalog!

Say... are these available in Portable (3-3/4" x 6-3/4") size?

Judging from recent comments about hole punches, it sounds like people do use that size of page from time to time...

Working on it

Look here

That's very nice, but it

That's very nice, but it sounds like it only does calendar pages-- or am I mistaken?

User-submitted templates

There are a few, I believe, user-submitted templates of various forms. The only part truly lacking, then, would be the calendar pages, specifically dated ones--therefore, these can and should fill that essential gap.

But you will need to search through the user-submitted forms to find what you are needing.

You are not mistaken

But then I am just getting started.
What templates are you looking for ?

DIY A5 2008 calendar?

First off; Thank you for an excellent planner! It's a great system. I recommend to everyone I know :-)

Secondly; Will there be a 2008 calendar?

Here, Here, and Here

2008 monthly calendars?

I will give you a nice donation if you bring out the 2008 monthly calendars (Classic size) soon! Don't make me go DayRunner!

2008 monthly

they want you to use the "dynamic 2008 monthly program" that was developed by ygor I believe. Honestly, I have never been able to get it to work, so I wouldn't mind the regular d*i*y pages back either....

ExSqueeze Me ??!

Honestly, I have never been able to get it to work

What have you tried and what did you get ?
Why have you never mentioned this before ? I went and looked for a post from you on any/all of my templates and found none.

note the tear
"I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us." (Calvin and Hobbes/Bill Waterson)

Sorry to see the tear Ygor!!! :( I just cannot figure out the margin set up... Here is what I do: I click on Page Set Up and choose paper size A5. The margins lists: L:6.35, R: 6.27, Top 6.35, bottom 6.35. What does that mean? When I print it a usually only end up with about 8 days of the month instead of the whole month on two pages. It is like it zooms in way too far and I don't get it... Maybe I should re-read all of the instructions again... One other problem is that the dimentions are in Millimeters? Can I ask why it is set up that way? I will have to go to a conversion web site as I don't think I have every used millimeters before?

Well, that is the best explanation I can give, I guess. I will keep working on it.

Thanks Ygor, for your concern! :)
nay nay

Directions / Suggestions

Ignore the margin settings from Page Setup. I could not get them to bahave, and that's why it is on the main window.
I chose millimeters so I could restrict it to integers. There are 25.4 millimeters to the inch.
"I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us." (Calvin and Hobbes/Bill Waterson)

Ygor - you just always have all of the answers for us and you make it so easy! :) Thanks for the assistance!

nay nay

round it out

The simplest way to think of mm is 25 per inch. That's not exact, but it's close enough for what we need. So, about 12mm is about 1/2". 1/4" is about 6mm. 3/4" is about 18mm. That should be enough to get you going on your margins.

BTW, I had thought that the scale in millimeters was due to my Mac's Polish localization, but I guess it isn't. ;-)

My version defaults to 5mm margins, but I wonder if that's printer-set. As to the whole thing not printing... Are you using the latest? I have version 1.1--I think that the monthly app went through a few iterations. Make sure you've been using the latest.

Jon - great info - thank you for the assistance! I am sure to get this thing working with you and Ygor helping me!
Smiles, nay nay :)

5mm default margins

set in the application.
If enough folks want it changed, I will. Otherwise, if I ever get round to persistant preferences...

I printed out the last month of 2007 fine. However, when I went to print out the 2008 pages elsewhere on this site, I can't get it to print out correctly. I have tried everything... adjusting margins, etc. Would it be possible to put the 2008 calendar out in pdf format like this 2007 one? Thanks so much!!

Are you going to have 2008

Are you going to have 2008 calendar pages for A5?

Already available...

Is there going to be an update for a 2008 calender? Thanks, Ann Marie

Did you try...

2008 Just Print Them Templates (PDF) ?

Yes, the "Just Print Them"

Yes, the "Just Print Them" pdf's are great. I'd just like to print March and April already (I use 2pg per day classic), plus have the security that the whole year is available so I don't have to go looking again, or change to a different design part way through etc. Thanks for all your work on them!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your stuff.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your stuff. For years I have been creating mini docs. and slicing pages in half to try and downsize my load. I even created a few templates for myself in desperation. I am SO glad I found this site and I am so thrilled that you do this great work for free! I am going to be a middle school teacher soon and look forward to using all your great templates to keep organized.

Contact Log

Hi there, I am unable to locate the "contact log." It's got the top half for identifying data and the lower half for the notes. I need the class size. Thanks for the great stuff!

Try this...

Core Package: Classic, pages 57 and 58 (maybe 59 and 60 as well ?)

How to Print A5 Core Package

Let me tell how that this is a great template. Well done everyone!

Nevertheless I am having a small problem to print this. I have downloaded the A5 Core Package. Now, I am trying to print two A5 pages on one A4 paper with 2-sided finishing. However, the result is not really good.

What I got now is the first page on the left side and second page on the right side. According to the handbook, it says that the first page should be on the left side and second page should be on the right side at the back. Clearly I got it wrong.

So, can someone teach me how to print this A5 template on A4 paper?

Thank you!!!

More info?

Can you share more info? What computer/system, 1-up or 2-up, what printer? Also, maybe some more detail on exactly what you are doing to get to where the pages print on the wrong side.

If you print A5 Templates...

It is easiest to use A5 paper.

A5 templates onto A4 paper is 2-up printing.
One way to do that is with your printer driver. Unfortunately, each printer/driver/computer combination is relatively unique, so I cannot offer generic advice other than to refer you to your printer's user manual about 2-up printing.

A generic, universal way to handle it is described at these links:

Trying to Get to the Templates

Dear Friends: I have not been able to get to diyplanner for a few days. Now that I am here, I cannot get to the templates.

This appears to be fixed.

This appears to be fixed. Are you still having issues?

Access to DIY Planner Templates Not FixedL

Hin Sara: One can now get to DIYPlanner, but one cannot download anything. I have emailed Doug Johnstone. He has asked for the page where the difficulty occurs. I have sent that to him. Pardon Sara: Try for yourself whether you can download anything.

Cordially, Steve

Still busted - but here's a work-around

If you can get the URL of what you want to download, it probably starts with "www.diyplanner.com". Change the URL to just "diyplanner.com" -- Like this:

This won't load:

But this will:
"I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us." (Calvin and Hobbes/Bill Waterson) ***

I'm unable to download also

Using the URL diyplanner.com/blah

Be Persistent; Ygor Is Correct

Thanks to Ygor's workaround, not only did I get to the full set of Classic templates and print them out, but I got also to the Classic 2-up templates and printed them out also. What I did was to insert white cardstock into my printer and print out all of the classic and classic-2up that were most important to me. They will be printing masters to me from now on. By that I mean that I will keep them in a safe place. On the occasion, I shall take the masters to Staples or Office Depot and print out 30 double-sided copies of whaddevah. For example, it pleases me to have page A of "Project Tracker" on the front side of a page and "Project Notes" on the other.

Dear Friends: Our present experience underscores Doug Johnson's statement that diyplanner.com is the greatest thing since Gutenberg. Electrons failed. Paper did not. But our present experience points up one other thing. A human mind, Ygor's, intervened between electrons and paper to restore the connection

Download links and attachments won't open

Thanks for a wonderful site from someone who still loves hardcopy notes. Since finding your site (via Pinterest) I've attempted to download, or at least open some of the templates offered. Unfortunately, the links do not work and I'm unable to open attachments provided. I'm using Chrome as my browser, and appear to have no luck with any link/attachment. I would love to access some of the terrific designs available on your site.

It Works!

No sooner did I post the above query and Voila', the links now work. Must have been a hiccup in the system. Thanks for a terrific site!
