Song Tracker

This template is for musicians who are working on new tunes and often play with different bands. It helps track new songs and when they can be checked off as "off the page." I often lose songs because they don't get off the page and into my head and then I forget I worked on them. There is space for notes about the song, room to write the info about the musical group (like lead player's phone number)and ideas that are not quite incorporated into "groupthink." Enjoy! Ideas are welcome!

2008 Monthly 2-Up

Monthly overview pages for 2008, 2-up.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Usage advice:

This is a fairly standard month-on-two-pages calendar, 2-up. I've included an "important dates" section on the front page and the GTD quick reference on the back for people who like it.

It's set up to have Jan/Feb on opposite sides of one page, etc. This template had some issues, but I think I've fixed them all -- it prints out okay for me. Every other page is upside down because that's what my printer wants me to do, but it should be fairly easy to fix that in any viewer if yours can do the right thing.

I have an OmniGraffle Template for the months (5-week and 6-week, 2 per page, right side up and upside down) if anyone wants it.

Running with Cross Training

I created this to keep track of my marathon training. I run 4 times a week and do 2-4 cross training activities a week (yes, walking around the block following my 4 year old on a trike counts as cross training!). The design isn't elegant, but I find it useful. I hope you do to!

Grad Student Daily Planner, 2-Up

I couldn't find any templates that worked for me, so with Spring Break at my disposal and my first-ever copy of MS Word, I created my own.

  • One day per half-page when printed 2-up;
  • Checkboxes for daily tasks;
  • Large column for reading assignments; three smaller columns for writing, household, "other";
  • Designed to print double-sided;
  • Font used is Blue Highway, which comes with MS Word.

I've attached the MS Word and PDF versions, for two weeks only. It's easy enough to change the date in Word and print each set of two weeks.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:
diyplannerthumbnail.gif
Usage advice:

I printed out ten weeks' worth, for the spring quarter; because I got syllabi at the beginning, I was able to sketch in major due dates ahead of time, and can write in reading assignments as they're assigned.

Be sure to print double-sided, or you'll wind up having to cut and tape things together, which isn't very efficient.

Garden Planting List

This is a Classic size template for utilizing the Square Foot Gardening method. If your not familiar with it go to www.squarefootgardening.com and check it out. This template will help plan and setup one 4X4 plot. Use multiple pages for more plots. The folks at Square Foot Gardening have given me their permission to post this here under the Creative Commons License. Hope this helps someone out.

Usage advice:

Used to plan out a Square Foot Garden plot. Decide what you want to plant, find out if that plant has any likes or dislikes with other plants. check Wikipedia for one list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companion_plants), determine the spacing needed and then lay it out in the grid on the bottom. Once everything is placed where you want it take it out and start planting.

Song Tracker

Here is a Song Tracker form for performers in bands that I created to keep track of the status of new songs as they are learned and "off the page." Depending on lots of variables, I believe it is Junior size. This is my first template so let me know what I can do to improve it! Thanks.

2008 2 Pages Per Day Calendar Pack

I created this template for my daily planner pages and thought I'd share it. I borrowed design elements from quite a few other templates on here, I hope no one minds.

It's designed to fit on classic sized pages. There is a month on 2 pages at the beginning along with a monthly index to be printed on the duplex side of the month.

The rest of the pages are the daily pages with a personal task list, work task list and a daily timeline from 7AM to 7PM. The daily page also displays the current month along with the previous and next month. The last page is the daily notes page which should be printed on the back sides of the daily timeline pages.

There is also a reference calendar page for 2008-2011.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:

Usage advice:

I'm attaching the openoffice source file for anyone to modify for their own use. I only created the month of April for Daily pages, but there are master slides for the rest of the months of the year. To change the master layout of the slide, right-click on the slide, select Page, then Slide Design and choose another monthly master to change the months displayed. The only thing that needs to be edited once this is done is the day of the week and the day number.

Workout Log PDF.jpg
Usage advice:

This is rather generic log that can be used to track your daily workout routine. I wanted something simple that would be easy to carry and easy to write on. It is formated in classic size and prints out two per standard sheet. This is not meant for duplex printing (because I am right handed and have a hard time writing on the left side of a binder).

Modified Daily Page

Daily Page with space for appointments, homework assignments, routine items (like taking medications), action items, and notes.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Usage advice:

Appointments: freeform box. Write in time and appointment title.

Homework assignments: to-do list, two lines per item.

Routine items (like taking medications): I write in my items before I print my pages. But one can handwrite them equally easily.

Action items: Things due today.

Notes: phone numbers, stuff to blog about, whatever you like.

Personally, I use a mail merge to populate it (see the mail merge instructions also posted by me elsewhere on this site).

Unschedule - Daily - Procrastination

You can use this as an ordinary Day Keeper, but it's meant to be an "Unschedule". Unscheduling a week per page isn't enough room for me. Includes check-boxes and room for notes.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Usage advice:

To use this as an Unschedule:

* If you have an important project that you've been procrastinating, schedule in *everything but* that project first, including breaks, meals, and so on. This will give you a realistic idea of how much time you actually have available.

* Once you've done the above, you can use the available time to work.

* Record your work on the project. Total it up at the end of each day.

Tips:

* Concentrate on *starting*. The sooner you do that, the better you'll feel. The first fifteen minutes or so is always the hardest. Just push through it.

* Schedule lots of breaks.

* Don't schedule in any work blocks until you've actually done your first one.

* I recommend using this along with a "Habit Tracker," where you can record your consistent usage of the unschedule, and your daily amount of work. This helps give the kind of overview you get from a weekly unschedule. Also, it's very motivating.

* Read The Now Habit by Neil Fiore.

2009 yearly and weekly

I have used several of the templates I found here and thought I would return the favor. I created these for my notebook I carry at all times. I have included both the Excel workbook and the Pdf files.

Meal and Grocery List Planning Sheet

Streamline your Meal & Grocery Planning

Usage advice:

Use this sheet to do a quickly jott down a list of Dinners, lunches, snacks, breakfast items you would like over the next few days and then use that list to generate your grocery list. I like to plan out my meals 3 days at a time and this sheet allows me to easily do a sweep of what I want to eat for the week and what I need to buy to make it happen.

Quick simple but very helpful.

2008 and 2009 Week at a View Planner

This is a Word document, Classic page size, one week per page, Monday start.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:
PlannerThumbnail.jpg
Usage advice:

It's in table format, with the days going down the page.

The dates and the lines (between the cell borders) are set to print in 70% gray as I don't like the strong contrast between the paper and full black. Also it doesn't show through to the other side of the paper. But this is editable in Word by changing the font color.

I set margins to .3 inches and print two pages to a sheet, cut the pages apart, and have the book spiral bound with extra pages and some photos, an envelope, etc.

I have the weekly calendar page on the left and the right-hand side (the back of next week) is left blank for notes. You could put the weekly calendar on the right if you prefer. If you don't need the note space you could print duplex. There are also lined notes pages at the end of the file that you could print onto the back of the calendar if you like the lines.

If you have it spiral bound you can get plastic covers bound in. With the normal plastic covers Office Depot has, the covers start getting ragged (corners break off, etc) around August. It's better to take some scrapbook paper or a photo to use as the front and back cover, and have them laminated before binding.

There are several planning pages at the end of the file for future years.

There is some word art (the word "Holiday") at the official holidays when banks and post offices are closed. You can delete this if desired -- it's all editable.

Email me or leave a comment if you have any questions. I hope it's useful, if for nothing else than a starting point.
