Affordable Pen Review: Pelikan Souveran 200
Well Im at New York dropping off my brother at college. Me and my dad decided to head down to the Fountain Pen Hospital (Best pen store in the world believe me Ive been to a crap load in Europe and nothing comes close to this one) to get an affordable pen for school. I have alot of pens but most of them were my grandfathers and almost all of them are expensive Conway Stewarts, Mont Blanc etc... Ive always been a fan of Pelikan pens and they were the first pen I looked at. It was a hard choice I had 3 pens in a war, Pelikan, Ducati, and a Faber Castell. All these pens were under $100. The Ducati was a pen which was 40% off beautiful and wrote lovely it was on $55. The Faber was $45 also on sale it was some limited edition which was very simple and it looked nice. I was trying to decide between those and the Ducati was better then I saw a Pelican for $88. Ya it was more expensive but WOW for $88 this was the best pen ever. I went with the Pelikan only downside is that it does not take cartridges its a pen you have to dip for ink. Just a note Pelikan fine points are really really fine so I recommend Medium. Fine is very delicate and not as smooth. Any ink is good for this pen but the best ink for Moleskines are Old Manhattan Noodlers Ink (only available from the FPH.)
Model: Fullhalter M 201 G5 994103
Weight: One of the lightest fountain pens available in the Market. (Pelikans are mostly light)
Size: Great size its not a long pen not thick either its just right I love it.
Colors and Finishes: They have several colors the nicest looking one is the green one its a green-grey. It has gold colored trims with a black base.
Presentation: Just a traditional box. Nice box for the cost.
Pros:
Price (alot of people may think $88 is alot of money but for a good fountain pen its very low. Believe me)
Weight
Look
Cons:
No cartridge support.
Conclusion: This is a great pen and a great buy. If you are looking for a nice cheap pen get this. It looks nice, feels nice and most of all rights nice.
Cant put links because FPH website has some weird link formatting. Just search Fountain Pen Hospital on google and youll find it. Go to the Pelikan section then go down until the Souveran 200 section

Cannot find it
Best I could find was a Souveran 200 in the Under-$100 range
If you can find it on FPH, please provide "directions"

Great pen indeed.
I'd say you made a very wise choice among these three.
In my opinion, the filling mechanism of the Pelikan is a pro, not a con. It carries a ton of ink, a lot more than a single cartridge!
Fullhalter just means "fountain pen" - or something to that effect - in German. Based on the description, the pen is most likely a Souveran 200.
Ya its a 200. I agree now
Ya its a 200. I agree now the filling mechanism has been lasting alot more than my Conway Stewart pen. The ink isnt drying up as fast. I love the Pelikan pens. I own about 4 more. My favorite one has to be the PIcadili Circus model they had about 2 years ago its beautiful
