Inkscape: Open Source "Illustrator" Substitute
Inkscape is an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.
It can be found here: http://www.inkscape.org/
It runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux
Now, why, you say, should we care ?
Because I just figured out how to get the Dynamic Templates to "print" out SVG files. The only down side is that it has to be one file per page because of the sub-set of the SVG supported by Qt currently. The up side is that you can open these page files with Inkscape and EDIT THEM !
In Inkscape, you can...
- Change colors
- Change text
- Change size and proportion - Any Classic page can be stretched a bit into an A5 page
- And you can do this to PDF files !! Inkscape opens PDF files into an editable form. Text and lines
I could upload a Mac version now, but I will not leave the Windows people behind, tempting as it is >:D
I am having some technical difficulty with my Parallels Virtual XP Machine. This is the setup I use to create Windows executables. I should have it fixed in a few days.
In the meantime, start playing with Inkscape. It is fantastic.

This is big!
This is really big! I mean, think about it. You output to SVG or pdf, (one page per file), do what you want, and then put them back together with a pdf utility. Mac has several, including Leopard's Preview app. I know they are available in Linux (both cli and gui), and I can't imagine that Windows doesn't have it.
Now, these would be best for short runs, or things like notes, of course.
ygor, you need to add one other option to the Dynamic templates--undated. I have thought about it some, but at the time, didn't think it worth mentioning, but with this capability, undated suddenly has purpose and value. Something to consider. ;-)

You could...
...take one page and un-date it :)
I was planning on that, but could not resist the shot.
