Not everyone has a color printer, so greyscale is the best option that anyone can use. I am working on some possible options.

Until a solution is found to the issue of using color, I would vote for monochrome on the templates. I tend to make my own because of this. I would use the templates as is if they were monochrome, easier on the eyes.
I find monochrome to be too intrusive. Lines and boxes are there to deliniate areas of the page. However, with black lines the lines themselves become the object of attention. Grey lines are better; I prefer the filoFax pages for that reason because all the lines and boxes are drawn with nothing more than a 25% grey. So my vote cancels yours.
The black is too high contrast...I print most of my writing paper from incompetech because I can make light green or blue lines that barely show up. The line isn't supposed to be the main thing you see--what you write on the page is what is important.
Open Adobe. Go to Edit/Preferences/Accessibility and check the box that says Replace Document Colors. Choose the color you want and close the window and adobe. Now when you open a pdf template, they will show up in that color and print in that color. In order to switch back to black/white, go through the above steps again and just uncheck that box.
Thanks for the tip, but having the actual text something other than black would not work well for me. I would want to change just the shades of grey, which I find annoying.
Using the change that NayNay mentioned you should be able to change all the text and lines on the screen to very dark brown or perhaps even black. Then if you set your printer to temporarily use black ink only, rather than colour, you'll get black or at least deeper-than-grey lines.
I believe that's what you were after?
I doubt it will change the 'weight' of the lines, so they may still be comparatively finer than the text
What I am after is printing the columns and rows from shades of gray to another color (shades of yellow or green would be nice), or eliminate them completely, as needed.
Printing them in a darker color would negative their value, since writing would be harder to see.
The dynamic templates offer a little control on some of this, I the weight also. But that is not what I am after.
I have noticed the evolution of the templates, so I am hopeful this addition will eventually happen in the dynamics at least, we just need to be patient and wait. Someone in another thread mentioned using a Canon printer to alter the colors, but I have not had a Canon in years.
Short answer: Yes, color is a problem
Not everyone has a color printer, so greyscale is the best option that anyone can use. I am working on some possible options.

I nullify that vote

Uhm, do you know the definition of monochrome?
I think most designers use monochrome to mean a single ink color in different tones (google define: monochrome).
Using that definition, it is possible to believe that you and the parent post are agreeing.
I'm with reepicheep

I agree. I like the paper
I agree. I like the paper used in Rhodia's gridded pads, but the lines are way too dark. For me, the lighter the lines, the better.
An option for both perhaps?
An option for both perhaps? I also like lighter lines, but certainly many prefer dark ones.
Which templates?
The Dynamic templates are indeed shades of grey the older version has both kinds of lines.
To print pdf's in color....
Open Adobe. Go to Edit/Preferences/Accessibility and check the box that says Replace Document Colors. Choose the color you want and close the window and adobe. Now when you open a pdf template, they will show up in that color and print in that color. In order to switch back to black/white, go through the above steps again and just uncheck that box.
Hope that helps.
nay nay
The entire document one color?
Thanks for the tip, but having the actual text something other than black would not work well for me. I would want to change just the shades of grey, which I find annoying.
The one colour can be black
Using the change that NayNay mentioned you should be able to change all the text and lines on the screen to very dark brown or perhaps even black. Then if you set your printer to temporarily use black ink only, rather than colour, you'll get black or at least deeper-than-grey lines.
