A classic sized weekly/monthy planner

I would like a template that I can add pictures and graphics to. You know, make it purty and maybe even coordinate with the hipster templates I created.
I would prefer it to be in Word or Publisher format since Microsoft Office is what I have. Anyone have any ideas?

I already checked the templates from Microsoft and the calendar wizard is useless for this purpose.

Thanks!!!

Hi.

You could take your favorite DIY planner, grab a screenshot, and float that as a background image in word or publisher, then put other images over the top.

You could make your own templates entirely.

You could grab the editable copies of various templates in the OpenOffice Draw format and just slide your graphics into those. OpenOffice is free, and Draw is not difficult to learn if you already know how to use other graphics software.

I have a Word file--classic

I have a Word file--classic size, with one page per week. It's a table with the seven days of the week (Monday start, tho you could probably change it easily) going down the page in one column (to me it's a vertical layout but maybe it's what people here call horizontal).

It has the entire year 2008.

I've got word art for the holidays (just the word "Holiday") which you could delete easily to put in your own.

I've got the cell borders and dates etc printed in 70% gray print. Easy to change or if you want the file I can change it for you.

Just contact me if you want the file.

I hope you find a solution -- update us and let us know how it works for you -- sounds interesting!

I was going to upload mine,

I was going to upload mine, but happened to do a search through the template directory first and found almost the same thing. As a matter of fact, I may not bother with creating one for 2009 if this guy posts a 2009 version on his website.

See node 4388. "A dated week to a page on the left, faced by notes." He did a really nice job of it.

no dice

It's in PDF format and not useful to me except as a last resort. Thanks for trying though!

Uploaded my file...

Ok, so I went ahead and uploaded my file. I hope you can use it. It should show up with this title: 2008 Week at a View Planner in MSWord.

Yeah!

thanks!!!

May fate smile on you a thousand times all the days of your life. (I am very grateful, can you tell?)

Your week per page

GG, I really like your week per page setup for the classic page. I have been trying to tweak it for a Sunday week start and totally messed up.(I'm definitely not computer-savvy). Can you help me?

Sunday start

Hi, Anonymous--
I've uploaded it at node 5860. There's a pdf and a Word doc.

graphics

You know, it is possible to print graphics really lightly on top of a pre-made template.

The trick with the DIYPlanner templates is to first print the background image very lightly. If you are skilled at Photoship, GIMP or other photo apps, you can do this in the app, but most color printers have an option somewhere for changing the density or lightness. Alternately, you can use Word or OpenOffice.org to make a watermark image, and print just that.

Once you've printed your background image, you can print your template.

You could also print a background image on top of a preprinted template, but you will need to print it _very_ lightly. :-)

Michael's had pads of

Michael's had pads of scrapbook paper (in Classic size, which was nice) with holiday themes and I scanned a Christmas page. Then I printed that (faintly) on the pages for the last two weeks of December. It worked nicely.

I used the print density settings on my Canon color printer as I don't have Photoshop.

I printed the planner first on a laser printer, and then printed the holiday image over that on the Canon ink jet, and the pages were fine.

Also, I scanned some floral background scrapbook paper and used it for the cover of my planner. I discovered that it will stay in place between the clear plastic cover and the first bound page (maybe a static charge), so it doesn't even need to be bound in place. So I've started changing it around every few weeks--family photos, Texas bluebonnets in spring, etc.

For a pencil holder, I cut a plastic file folder down to Classic size, took some clear packing tape, folded it back on itself leaving a loop for a pencil, and put another piece of tape inside the loop so the pencil wouldn't stick, and stuck the packing tape to the plastic file folder page. There are instructions for this on a Moleskine web page somewhere. This pencil holder isn't bound into my planner--it just sits there loose, but the pages of the planner hold it in just fine, and I've been using this same pencil holder for several years now and it doesn't fall out. Each year I just move it into the new planner. And the plastic file folder is sturdy but light-weight, which is helpful.

I think I'm visualizing it properly, but I would love to see a picture of the real thing. It sounds quite handy, and bet it would be popular amongst the regulars here. :-)

Google "Moleskine duct tape

Google "Moleskine duct tape pen holder" and the first link will be for the page on Moleskinerie, and on that page there's a link to the flickr page with photos and instructions.

Thanks!
