is there such a thing as two-tone ink?
i've been following discussions for months now here about pens and such. Very helpful. Though I dont have a fountain pen yet, I'd like to have one again.
Long ago in the neandertal era, I had an esterbrook and the inks it used were like 'two-toned'.... possibly cause inks were cheap and sediments separated, not sure, But it was beautiful
one was a brownish ink that left a red shadow, and another was a black that left a cobalt blue shade on some parts of the letter, and one was a peacock blue that left a green aura on some of the high points of the letters
1. does anyone know what I'm talking about? Are such inks made any longer?? or shorter? ok ok, that was just a joke
2. ALSO, is there a site in addition to Fountain Pen Network that you recommend for fountain pen info?
thanks for any direction you can give

Found this at FountainPenNetwork...
Ink Link
and this at Pendemonium that mentions a few inks that do this.

They're not advertised as two-tone, but...
A number of inks will show color variations, depending on how broad the stroke is and how much ink is deposited on the paper. You can try those that are described on the Pendemonium page that ygor quoted that say they have different colored highlights. That probably clues you in on those that might show the two tone effect you're looking for. They might look like one color in the middle and a slightly different color along the edges. I guess you just have to try them. I had some Private Reserve Copper Burst that showed that tendency.
Try ordering some different ones and have fun! Again, I think a broader nib is likely to show off the two-tone effect better than a finer nib. And if you use a wetter nib, you'd want to use paper that doesn't feather too easily. I've found that smooth inkjet printer paper works pretty well.

Here's another good ink review page...
This is on Glenn Marcus' excellent pen site. He also has information on pen stores all over the world. Hope the link works. If not, try: www marcuslink dot com slash pens slash ink slash index.htm
www.marcuslink.com/pens/ink/index.htm
Glenn has ink samples for most of the inks he reviewed. Good chance for you to see what might appeal to you!

i think you must be ygor-the-all.-or-mostly-knowing. Thanks!!!
dear ygor, thank you for Pandemonium. I will go look there. For some reason I couldnt find two tone ink on Fountain Pen Network when I looked through their site yesterday, but I'll go look again.
Also, re googling two-tone ink, when I did a couple days ago, there were gillions of hits on mostly tattooing and laser printer ink and so, I came to DIY hoping someone would know more.
You did. Yay. And thanks

ps I read a lot about irridescent inks in tattooing, even though not what I was after, it was VERY interesting. Wonder if you could put that in an old pen and try it out.
