2008 Dated Day per Page Diary Insert

I have created for my use a 2008 dated two page per month and day to a page diary insert. It is formatted to allow printing as a whole or month by month.

Feel free to edit / modify / add / change or criticize as this is my first template design and I thank all those whose designs have helped spark my creative side.

Edit - PDF Attached - Jan-Jun and Jul-Dec with a small overlap of pages.

One word...

WOW!!!

That's an amazing bit of work! The entire year! I don't even want to know how much work you put into this! It really does look good, and the minor fact that January 1 and 2 in my copy seem to be mostly or completely empty does not take away my admiration, nor appreciation for your hard work. (and I attribute the lacking elements a potential result of my aging Mac, which took about 15 minutes to open the file in NeoOffice.) ;-)

Great work, and thanks for the effort!

Can't Open Planner Pages

I'm at a loss here. I've downloaded from the link and I get a zip file. But nothing in the zip opens up as day planner pages. What am I doing wrong?!

Do not unzip it

When you download, make sure the last 3 are ODG and then open it with OpenOffice

On the Mac, at least....

I just drag the file with the zip extension to NeoOffice, and it opens it. I haven't tried this yet with the X11 version to see if it would work there, but it can't hurt to try to open the file with the .zip extension from within OOo, and see if it opens it.

I concur with Jon -- WOW !

Very nice effort.

But keep your eye on the Dynamics :)

A bit more work and you will only have to do stuff like this ONCE (as opposed to once a year)

PDF Anyone?

I have a pdf of the calendar files that I have attached here for all those who were having issues with the Open Office version. Definitely will work on a Mac!

Check the first post for the edit!

Happy planning.
Jules

thanks for the pdf!

This is really nice.

Fantastic! Thank you so

Fantastic! Thank you so much! I was just about to pay over £50 for the same thing on filofax.co.uk, soooo glad i didn't! :D

Filofax inserts

Um, £50! At the end of November I paid £26.50 for their time managment day-per-page inserts. These differ from the version given here because it's day-per-view; the left-hand side has a notes/journal page --- I use these regularly. Oddly there are no diary inserts for 2008 in their conventional and populist day-per-page edition.

I like the Filofax stuff because the grid lines are subtle. Also the timed section occupies most of the length of the page. There's plenty of room for tasks, reminders, etc. Plus the facing page for extended notes.

Classic 2-Up

For a days to an opening with the journal on the left check out ygor's Classic 2-up Dynamic Templates as this sounds exactly like you are describing.

Cheers

problem with openoffice

I have downloaded the openoffice file - which is wonderful and I am already dreaming about 2009! - but there is a slight problem in that one of the headings is 'APPOINTMEN' rather than 'APPOINTMENT' - I have tried to find and replace in openoffice but am new to the package - and nothing is happening. Could some kind person please take pity ....

Thanks

Edit > Find/Replace

In the copy of the file I just downloaded OpenOffice.org (version 3 beta 2 for Mac) doesn't find the heading you say is wrong. It can't find either APPOINTMEN or APPOINTMENS. But it does replace all occurences of APPOINTMEN to Appointmen. Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using?

Find/replace and open office

I am using openoffice 2.4.1 - just about to download and install that again and then will try downloading the source file again - the pdf files are fine but the *.odg file has 'APPOINTMEN' as the heading for that section - which I wanted to change. Will let you know how it goes - probably just a glitch somewhere. Thanks

Do you have the proper font ?

You need "Blue Highway" or it will not look right.
I just downloaded the file and it looks great to me.

Hey Julian !! -- May I ...?

make a Dynamic Template of your one-page layout ?

PLEASE SAY YES!!

Julian

Your calendar is so great - please let ygor do his magic!! Off to try to download blue highway!

Humble grovels

Thanks guys - it was the blue highways font that was causing the 'TS' at the end of appointments to slide out of view - and now I know how to install new fonts! (OK - I had to google for instructions). Now, I can print off to my hearts content - and my new filofax punch should be here tomorrow as they missed it off my original order - I am lovingly stroking my new A5 planner and drooling over just how organised I can get.

My 'wish list' would be for a page per day calendar but in a similar format to that off AgendaPerso_GTD_en - where you just print off a month at a time - as this means I could move the 'appointment' column to one long column on the LHS (more space to write) and have the other sections on the right - will await development on the dynamic template though!

Got a link for that format ?

or are you gonna make me Google for it ?

It's on node 4778. I

It's on node 4778. I googled it and was surprised to find it here on DIY Planner.

OK, help me out here

Looking at the form:
The form also has three "rows" -- the top row is "Projects", the bottom row is "Things To-Do"
The center "row" has four columns -- let's use the left column for the day's appointments as you describe
the right column could be "Notes" like the right-most column of the double page.

What do we do with the two columns in the center of the middle row ?

Brainstorming: Assuming the basic layout stays unchanged:

left column, all three rows -- Appointments
top row, remaining columns -- Projects
bottom row, remaining columns - To Do
middle row, remaining columns - Notes

The page could also be divided vertically into thirds rather than quarters.

Feedback ?

Dynamic Template for Julians Page a day format

I have been trying to work this same format, but since I have no programming skills I have just about decided to print blanks and write in the calendar stuff...

Have you worked on a dynamic for this one? Is it on Diy.somewhere ?

Thanks
Doug

What, please, is a "Julians Page A Day" format ?

If I know what it was, I could try to make it.

D-oh !

How "Homer Simpson" of me ! :P

I am working on a major revision of the Dynamics, and one thing is some one-page calendar templates. Julian's design is very nice.

Great stuff!

How good are these? Well done. I'm stuck just now in deciding whether or not to truly diy my 2009 diary. I really love ygor's 2 pages a day dynamic template but these are neat too. I usually just buy a page a day a5 diary which a draw a few lines in for notes and to do but it is thick and cumbersome. I travel about with a lot of stuff and my bag is always too heavy as it is so I'm trying to cut down weight. Thought I might carry a month at a time page or two page per day and a pocket moleskine monthly planner for putting in new meeting arrangements for other months.

I may have to toss a coin........

Thanks for sharing your efforts with everyone

2009?

will you post your 2009 version if you recreate for yourself?

Hi all!

It's great to hear that everyone has appreciated my work.

To all who asked, yes I am planning on creating and releasing 2009. I was not going to start this until December but if there is enough interest I can get this going sooner.

OR..

ygor has offered to include this design as a dynamic template. If ygor has the time and includes this design then I will have no reason to update as I will be using the dynamic template!
Thanks to ygor.

Cheers
Jules
