DIY Dreams

I have started dreaming about DIY.
I am not gifted in the organizational arena. I start and fail on many methods.
I had a dream last night of a DIY project methodology.

A large pad of paper 11x17 (legal would do).
Landscape view.
At the top, little brass tack binder things.
The paper is perforated down and across, creating layers of tear offable notes. I was thinking about the size of a piece of paper that could fit in an Altoid tin (3.25"x2").
Different note styles in the columns but also on the layers.
I have been taking screen photos of PDF files all morning and putting them into Word documents.

Any input?

Thanks,
Andy

What about business card template 8-1/2" x 11"

If you went a little smaller overall you could use an Avery (or similiar) stock -- which would give you color choices. Unfortunately everything would have the same orientation -- although that could be controlled by how you hold the paper and have the forms set up. They do fit in an Altoids tin.

Sometime ago there were templates published here for the Walleteer and a Fob hpda. I modified them some in a Word Doc using the Avery template in Word -- I can move the formats around, printing more (or less) of those I still have a supply of... I printed out several styles and keep some in my wallet for those times when I am away from my desk without my calendar or inbox notebook (like when I walk at lunchtime, or am out on a date with my wife -- always handy to have a small piece of paper and pen around. I have some that are "To Do", some "appointment", and some that are just blank. I only carry 3 or 4 with me, once used I replenish.

Sounds like you want something more desk bound.... how would you handle needing the format that is on the third row, second from the left? tear it out -- next time you are writing in a hole. That could become a pain.

Using business card layout might work for you -- without a great deal of effort.

That size sounds

That size sounds suspiciously like half index card size. Perhaps you could use those index cards that are perforated down the middle. They could be layed out on the desk to whatever size you like, or stuck to the wall if that is what you intend.

Then again, when all you have is about 3000 index cards, everything begins to look like a nail. I'm sure the quote goes something like that anyway.

that size sounds like...

3.25" x 2"? That sounds a bit like something I came up with. I've chopped up 4x6" index cards in four and make a Circa notebook out of that. Of course when the Circa Micro PDA's came out I "upgraded".

The micro pda is amazing! I

The micro pda is amazing! I wasn't sure how much use I'd have for them right now but boy am I glad I've got one. (Thanks Ryan!!)

ubiquitous capture

I keep my Micro PDA in my wallet along with a Pilot G2 Mini pen. I have the Micro PDA covers and about 1/3 of the pages that originally came with it on 1/2 inch Circa rings (as opposed to the 3/4" they came with). I've been thinking about ordering 1/4 inch Rollabind rings so I have an even thinner wallet-sized notebook. I just use this to jot things down when I'm out and about and don't have my planner with me. I have yet to use more than 2 pages in a day, so smaller = better. Also, the original rings are a great place to keep the extra pages as refills.

Hope we haven't hijacked this discussion too bad!

business cards

That reminds me of perforated business card sheets
eg. green business cards sheets

These might be a good way to explore a prototype. Although the business cards may be a heavier weighted paper than you want to use.
