One Page per Day Calendar with Automatic Day Updating - Based in New Apple Numbers '08

One page per day calendar for Circa (or other binders) that automatically updates each page with day of the week and "mini" calendars. Saturday and Sunday are automatically put onto one page. Only need to change one cell at start of month and entire worksheet will update. Includes a cover page and a blank "extra" page for extra notes. Should use with a duplex printer - the template will put lined notes page on the calendar page.

Usage advice:

Change date in "Daily Sheets :: Table B :: A1" at beginning of month. Annually, update "Cross Reference :: S2:T13" with day of the week for the 1st of each month and number of days in each month (for leap years).

Excel export?

Hi.

Numbers '08 exports to Excel - would it be possible to export this template to a version of Microsoft Excel so the non-apple using folks could try it?

Working on it

I was curious of the same thing, since my Numbers trial period runs out in a couple of weeks--so I'm going to try exporting it to Excel. I'm guessing it won't be perfect, but we will see...

In a word...

...no.

But Jim, you have got my _respect_! Wow! That is some of the most amazing bit of calculating I've seen in a long time! And then, the layout, etc. Fantastic! You have shown of the capabilities of Numbers in a way that I don't think anybody could have foreseen! Great work!

Now, for the curious who wish this were in Excel--It ain't gonna happen! At least, not in anywhere near the elegance that this has been accomplished in Pages!

This really is impressive work!

Now, I just need to find what I did with my Minion Pro and Tahoma fonts! (I used to have them somewhere.....)

And yes, Ygor--you need to upgrade! I only wish my poor old Pismo could run '08 at a decent speed (took five minutes to open this sheet! and Keynote is unusable for me in presentation mode)

Mmmmm

I was wondering whether or not to buy Numbers.....

mac only eh?

No luck for us PC users huh :(

Updatable calendar in Excel

Take a look at this updatable calendar from Vertex 42: Free Excel Yearly Calendar Template. You might be able to adapt the "engine" behind it to create something similar in Excel.

Agreed, this is beautiful. I'm missing a couple of the fonts on my Mac, but otherwise it's very nice.

(Totally OT, I love Numbers for spreadsheets but still prefer Nisus Writer Pro over Pages for basic word processing. Pages is great for complex documents with footnotes, formulas, tables, etc.)

Cheers,
rf

ty!

I will check into that Vertex 42 calendar - thank you for sharing :D

Plain Minion will work--

--and maybe Minion Web. I bet you have one of those two installed...

-Jon

Actually...

I subbed Arial Narrow in for both and it looks very nice.

Now if only it could change page size like another template I know of .... >:D

Cannot open

I cannot open this. I have Circao and this looks really interesting. I have Excel

It's not an Excel file...

You'll need Apple Numbers '08 to use this, as it says under "Applications Required" Sorry!

I never finish anyth

Very Cool!

I'm going to link to this on my blog. Well done!

Question about numbering

Is it intentional that after the first weekend the numbers on the Daily Notes side no longer match the Task List side? I don't quite understand how to print successfully if this is the case. (Have I just misunderstood how to use it?)

Love it but have a question

Can't figure out how to change the month and year with the instructions given. Is there an easier explanation that people like me (with a monkey brain) can understand?

Thanks!

What page size ?

Either my eyeglasses need an update or I do not see a page size specified anywhere.

towards the top

It's A4 size, that's the Euro version of standard letter size, but it's a bit taller and narrower than US Letter. I don't know how well you could modify the template to work on US Letter...

-Jon

Tough one

Considering it is done in a spreadsheet, one would have to re-scale the whole schmess to fit the same grid onto different page sizes.

but Excel can automatically scale, right?

And if microsofts product does it, i'm sure open office can do it. (i've got several spreadsheets where in page setup I tell it to fit to 1 page wide, then manually drag the page breaks where I want them)

(who uses microsloths products far more than she'd like to.)

Maybe, but how ?

I have not yet found the controls in Numbers to set a grid to page size.

Contrarywise, different page sizes have different hight/width ratios, so you would end up stretching and/or squashing things. Look at my Dynamic Templates as an example.

Size the page, not the grid

In Open Office and Excel, one says that the page needs to be sized to the paper, not the grid. So I can print a spreadsheet to fit on A4 or US Letter without altering my grid sizes (but with the possibility of software-introduced whitespace around the edge of the worksheet.) I believe that's what's meant here. If would NOT want the software to tinker with my grid proportions, since I often tweak these by hand when laying out data.

Possible with Numbers

At least on my machine.

When you pull up the Print menu, you can select Paper Handling and select the 'Scale to fit paper size' Then I can pick the US Letter as my destination paper. My printer works a wee bit slow when doing this scaling, but works....

That works, but...

it is simple scaling. Try hipster size to "see" my concern
