Classic binders on eBay

There's a person selling 20 DayRunner Flat Pack planners for $15 each (including shipping). I ordered one for myself because I want the binder. (It's a 3-ring binder, so I don't even have to buy a special hole punch. Yay.)

Just thought I'd share...

Please let us (me) know when you get it.

I have a question about its construction.
I sent a question to the eBay seller but have not yet received an answer.

I have a smaller DayRunner/eRunner planner -- 3x5 size -- that looks kinda like this one. Anyway, the binder rings are not fastened to the cover, but are attached to a plastic card that slides into a pocket in the rear cover. I can remove it and use the cover for a Circa/Rollabind 3x5 Hipster.

I am hoping that this planner may be built the same way, opening possibilities for Classic/A5 Circa/Rollabind planners.

Please bounce me an e-mail or post here.

As of now (Monday, 29 Jan, 9:16 am EST) there are still 18 left.

I haven't gotten a shipping

I haven't gotten a shipping confirmation yet, but I'll be happy to let you know when it shows up.

This should be great

I went to Office Depot and while I did not find the exact binder/planner in question, I found smaller versions of it (between Classic and Hipster size -- like them funky Filofaxy thangs) with the same ending digits "5499"

I am confinced that this is the Classic sized version of the same binder I found in 3x5 size. I am sufficiently convinced that I bought not one, but two !!

I'll let y'all know when I get them !! If they are what I believe they are, you are going to want to jump on them !! 'Specially you RollaBinders and CircaFolks

Sweet!

I've been looking at Rollabind sites -- maybe this is the cheap way to get a cover...

Grab while the grabbing is good

If you are willing to risk $15

I will let y'all know as soon as I get mine.
Also, this eBay seller appears to deal in such items regularly. If this batch runs out, they may be able to get more.

Well, I already ordered one

Well, I already ordered one for my regular planner. If the binder rings come out, I may repurpose it...

I got mine and they are perfect !! Grab the rest !!

These are perfect for anyone wanting to do a Classic Circa/RollaBind planner

Or you can actually use the rings (3)

I'll try to do some pictures over the weekend.

As of the time of this posting, there are still 16 left.

Still don't have mine

Apparently the seller waited a full week before shipping...haven't found out why yet. UPS says it should be here tomorrow though.

Ugh.

Ygor,
I Loved the pictures.
Could you take a few minutes to let me know how your circa system is working with the binder?
Pros and cons? Did everything fit inside as you expected?
Thanks,

DayPlanner hipster size zippered binder

Ygor,
Regarding your DayPlanner hipster size zippered binder, are those regular 3x5 cards smurfed on the left (5 inch side)?

This ties into a question someone else asked recently regarding top bound or side bound 3x5 PDAs. I see that you responded by indicating you didn't have a preference. Someone after you responded by saying that the side bound are perforated. Having seen the perforated cards at Levenger I know that tearing the perforation reduces them to the standard 3x5.

Levenger sells them with the rings, they cost about $12.00. They do have the perforated smurfed cards separately but they aren't cheap.

It seems to me that a DIY sidebound PDA would probably be made from unperforated, true dimension 3x5s. I'm guessing that's what you have. If so, how awkward is it to write in with the narrow width encroached on by the rings?

Also, if you think of it could you let me know if you come upon this DayPlanner size again? Or perhaps give me their official descriptive info so I can start scouting around?

Hipster DayPlanner

This was something I dug up before I was "Circa-fied". I was going to use it for a ring-bound hipster. I got it from DayRunner's outlet web pages. I believe they discontinued it 'cause it ain't there no mo' :(

To my delight, the rings are on a card that slides into (or out of) a pocket on the back cover. I "Rollabind-ed" it as my first project upon getting my punch. That's why I got all spun up when I saw the larger ones on eBay. They are of identical construction. The hipster has a cell-phone pouch vs. the zippered flat pocket on the classic one.

I believe it was called an "e-Runner Sport Pouch" I found a possible reference for it here. 'Bout halfway down the page: "2043-5499=E-RUNNER POUCH 3X5 BALLSTC BL=EA=26.25"

I found an "e-Runner Sport Organizer" here, for $39 (EFG !!). This size is called "Pocket"-- 3¾" x 6¾" (95 x 172mm)

As far as the writing comfort, I have no problem other. The smallness of the page is morte of a problem than anything.

Hipster sized planner.

The same seller has a similar hipster sized planner availble in his store. It is a Day Runner Classic Pro. $14 plus $9 shipping. Material is vinyl. I would prefer a ballistic nylon but this might do. I have yet to find a photo of the interior. I ordered and if anyone is curious, I will give details.

Linkety UnMcLink

Looks like there's a small error in the markup for the Linkety McLink. Status bar is showing the presence of a < / a characters at the end of it; eBay baulks when trying to display it.

oops and thanks

Great

Other then the limitation against using the larger siscs, this has been the bee's knees

I'll second that

I bought one of these binders too. A Circa notebook with 1 inch discs just barely squeezes in there. Anything larger would cause the binder to bulge and probably wouldn't zip shut properly.

But the seller only ships to

But the seller only ships to the US, and I'm in Malaysia. :(

Shipment of Classic Flat Pack Oragnizer 526-5499

This might be just what I need if the rings are 1" and the ballistic material doesn't make it too fat.

So I sent a detailed message to the seller and got a very brief reply along the lines of "sorry, out of country". I double checked the listing. The item seems to be in Canada but UPS shipping info ($8.00) is given for Canada and the US. So I replied back with a request for clarification on the US shipping info.

If anybody learns anything please post back here.

A spare

Because I misunderstood something with PayPal, I got charged twice for the binder order. I didn't find this out until the eBay seller sent me two packages. (I would rather he have refunded the money, but whatever.) So I have an extra binder, which I'll happily ship to Malaysia if you pay what I paid ($15) plus a little extra to get the package overseas. (I'll have to look up shipping rates.)

couldn't resist any longer

Last night my wife and I were supposed to meet some friends near the mall that has a Franklin Covey store... We got there a whole hour early and decided to swing by the mall... I was looking around the FC store for a Classic size FC planner with two pen loops and removable insides so it could be used to hold my Levenger Circa notebook. Especially important since I had it with me in the rain and some of the inch smudged :-(

The only Classic size notebook I found in the store where the rings weren't physically attached to the binder was a $90 leather one. Very nice looking, but not $90 worth of nice. If I were to spend more than $20 and get real leather, I'd buy something from Levenger.

I couldn't resist any longer. I decided to go ahead and snag one of these Classic size binders from Ebay.

the temptation bug...

I have been bitten by the temptation bug...

::shakes fist:: I can't even afford the claring notebook with shipping... why much my financial status mock me so! :D

Trust me...

... that's a well-spent $15. I believe you will be very happy with what you get.

Besides, in that size, you can re-punch the pages you get with the binder and use them. The smurfs do not interfere with the 3-hole pattern on classic size paper.

shipping?

One question I had after I placed the order... I noticed that the seller is in Canada. Will there be any issues with shipping/customs charges crossing the border? Or is that just shipping from the US to other places?

-Kenny

I doubt it.

I'm in the US and mine were $15 each, no problems.

Seller is in Canada,

but the return address on mine was Buffalo, NY. Mine showed up well packaged, and in great shape.

I'm going to use the day runner pages this year, and then diyplanner my refills next year.

but I didn't order wallpaper

Got a package today that had a return address of some wallpaper company. Opened it up, and sure enough it was the classic size binder. You really can't beat $15 for this. Anyone who is looking for a good Classic size binder can't go wrong with this.

The Circa notebook cover just *barely* fits in there in place of the DayRunner rings. More good news: two pen loops. YAY! Also, this is exactly the right size for 1" Circa discs.

I've only got two super minor complaints. The seller never emailed when to inform me the item had shipped. I was going to send him a message tonight to find out where my package got to. Good thing I saw it!

Secondly, the pen loops are too small to hold a Pilot G2 pen. The thicker grip part is just too thick. Anyone have a good solution to make one fit?

-Kenny

That explains the wall paper border

I bought 3 awhile ago and they came with a roll of wall paper border as filler in the package. I didn't notice the return address but thanks to you it now makes sense.
~Cath

But did you like the wall

But did you like the wall paper border?

The wall paper border was too dark

Aside from the fact that their was only one border and there wouldn't be enough for even a small room, the wall paper border was too dark for my taste.

I think the fact that it wound up as filler for shipment packaging speaks for itself.
