Grocery lists - timely now more than ever

I thought I had remembered this topic from more than a year ago...with gas and food prices soaring, we're trying our best to plan well when it comes to shopping. My husband is a military veteran, and though the base is about an hour away, it still pays to do most of our grocery/essentials shopping at the commissary- as long as we plan it! Otherwise, there are just too many good deals to pass up and all of our savings are wasted. These tips are wonderful and will help to make the big shopping trip less painful.

One thing that has helped is in organizing the coupons better. I invested $1USD on a cheapo 4x6 photo album. Each photo pocket holds coupons for different needs: canned goods, cleaning products, breakfast foods, etc. I use a post-it note on each photo pocket and list the coupon and expiration date. That way I know exactly what I have when making the list and don't let the good coupons expire like I have in the past.

There are just so many good ideas and tips on this site -- i just love it here!
Jenn

Thanks for making this more accessible

I had thought of using this system before, but found the huge amount of info on the flylady website overwhelming. Your well-thought out pages and clear instructions have encouraged me to think about trying it again. My sink (oh, it does have a bottom...) and I thank you.

True but ...

Star's response is technically correct that PDF files cannot be edited. However, the original poster (and several others of late) are actualy commenting upon a separate issue entirely, namely the absence/disappearance of the OpenOffice.org template that accompanied the remaining PDF file.

I downloaded it and also only received a .pdf file, not the OOo file. If it can be emailed, please let me know who to contact to get it.

Thanks,
PDF's aren't editable

Cyndy,
PDF's aren't made to be changed. Usually when they are created, it is so they can't be changed. My office uses them for board reporting and version control of policies. You can obtain software that will let you edit existing PDF's, but I can't speak to the effectiveness of the software.

Star

"Okay, I need to get in the habit of actually using my planner, but it looks really cool!"

Images etc

It's probably easiest just to print the images separately on the paper, after printing the template. Rather than add them to the template.

If you like pretty planning pages, try using letter-writing stationery. Remaindered stationery and cheap stationery kits from $1 shops make for very pretty planner pages. Although you have to find paper printed without lines

Mom Planner

I am using a Levenger Circa Leather Foldover Notebook Junior size in the colour Toffee which is on sale right now for the incredible price of $24.95. I love it! I did have to buy a desk punch as well, but I consider it a good investment in future planners. As my needs change, I will still be able to adapt my planner and use my punch for many more years.
