If what you want is to be able to press enter so that the cursor will automatically jump down to the next input field, simply copy each line to an Excel spreadsheet, then you are all set, no programming necessary. You can even prettify it on that program if you wish.

Yes, The template which you have mention in this link is totally perfect template for the password. But its looks like manually. Not like computer work. We can maintain that tricks in any word document as well as in text editor also. We want template not a trick to maintain it.

Oh, I gave you the link they gave me, perhaps it needs to be approved first, I thought that when they classified me as a non spammer, that would apply to templates as well.

If I understand your requirements correctly, it can be easily created in Word. I did just that, check it out and see if it suits you: http://www.diyplanner.com/node/7175

As far as sites you don't log it for a long time, those are the sites I use the same password for (social, furums), so I don't forget the login easily. In any case, see if what I provided suits you.

Civ, thanks for the input, but back to my original question. Is there a template?
Even if I had only a few passwords I need to write them down. There are sites I may not log on to for upto a year. Having them written down really helps.
Also if something where to happen to me I would want my wife to log on, let people know what has happened and if need be close the accounts.

Not one password for everything, but one for a given category, depending on a number of factors, including the ones you mention. Employers cannot be helped, that would be one of the ones that has to have a unique one. Sites with special requirements can still share the same password (six or eight characters, a number or two, and a non alphanumeric character, that should cover every site I am familiar with).

I have never had a problem with this approach, but on occasion felt the need to change one or two passwords. I keep about 6 passwords, which can be recycled, so not much of a problem for me at least.

Also, I use initials of things that mean something to me in creating passwords, that way remembering the password is less difficult (the first letter of the names of each of my children plus the number of members in the family, the first two or three letters of my profession, initials of my own real name, which I never use online, the last two digits of my birthday or age, or my children's, combining all the above makes a complicated password which I can remember without difficulty.

If only it where that simple. It seems every site has different password (and logon) requirements. Minimum number of characters, special characters, numbers etc. I even have some sites (including my employer) that make me change my password every so often.

Also if I where able to use the same password for everthing, just think of how big a mess it would be to change them all if something happened.

Have you thought about having just a few passwords?

Sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and my Banking all have unique passwords. Everything else use shared passwords. All my social sites use the same password, for example, all discussion forums use another, etc. These are, for me, low priority sites (that is, they have no access to my credit card number) therefore no need for unique passwords for most of them (though I often use different user ids, somehow ids are not hard to keep track of).

Makes life simpler for me. I keep them all in an encrypted file in the computer, but I find I rarely have any need to refer to it, because of this approach.

Also, whenever possible, I pay using only Paypal, again fewer things to keep track of. I also try to use a shared password on Paypal sites, to help remind me of the kind of site I am dealing with.

Hi,

I have the same problem - way too many passwords. The most important ones are written in my planner - maybe 2 dozen of them - on plain note pages. These are just the ones I need on a daily basis. But the master list of ALL passwords is on a thumbdrive that hangs off my keychain. That way, I can plug it into any computer to access the list. It's a .txt file inside an encrypted .zip archive, so I can get to it on Macs, Linux, or Windows machines. Maybe that would work for you?

I am in need of a template for all my internet passwords.
Now before anyone starts with the "You should never write down passwords" rant, I need to keep mine written down. Just about every site I go to needs a log on and password and they all have different requirements. It gets really hard to remember several hundred different passwords. I also use several computers so a program that remembers them for me is no good.

Ideally it would be a classic sized template with the following fields:
Web site URL
Login
Password
Hint
Category/Type

There should be room for 6-8 websites on a page.
