More CRM than planning

But in my new job I'm going to need to keep track of clients and their travel plans, to-do lists, phone and face-to-face appointments, research, brain storming and various travel itinerarys, as well as my personal commitments.

That looks to me like you will need a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system than a planner. There are dozens of CRM systems on the market. Thankfully some of them are open source so you could evaluate with them without sinking money you've not yet earned into a product that doesn't suit your needs.

To find them well ... (to steal Ygor's mantra) Google is your friend. Search for "(crm OR customer.relationship.management) open.source" and you'll have a variety of things to investigate. You could add "site"sourceforge.net" to that search to limit the search to inexpensive open.source systems. Also maybe exclude the names of operating systems you don't use to prevent inappropriate products being listed; exclude: why? because if you're using Windbloze you don't want to retrieve all the Windbloze plages too.

Any travel agents in the house?

I'm usually an interested lurker around these parts but I would love some input from all you planning aficionados out there...

I'm embarking on a new career as a travel agent. Previously all of my planning efforts have only needed to keep track of my part time job, study commitments, fitness and my social life.

But in my new job I'm going to need to keep track of clients and their travel plans, to-do lists, phone and face-to-face appointments, research, brain storming and various travel itinerarys, as well as my personal commitments.

Eeeeeeeeeeep! The mind boggles!

I'm not using a planner at the moment, just the calendar and memo functions on my phone because I've recently returned home from travelling and haven't needed anything else. So I'm trying to figure out which DIY templates will be most useful for my new job. I'm familiar with GTD but I'm open to all suggestions.

Are there any other travel agents on DIY?

Or anyone who has experience with / suggestions for large scale, large volume planning for multiple clients?

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom :)

Jess
