Austin

Austin is a cool place. It's North Austin that we stay in. Not much of a downtown visitor and in 20years have never visited the State Capitol so I'm going to try to do that this visit.

I like the idea of napkins etc. I usually come back with a selection of beer mats from various locations and beer bottle tops from local brews-dont ask me why, I never do anything with them....

Anyway will share some things when I get back hopefully :-)

Austin

My employer has its headquarters just north of Austin. I have visited HQ (I live in California and telecommute) three or four times, but still haven't been to downtown Austin. I hope you'll share your travel findings with us so I know what to do next time I'm in town! I suppose I could just ask one of my co-workers, but this seems much more fun.

When I was in Glasgow I purchased some of the Moleskine cahiers and some glue and glued in bits and pieces of brochures, napkins and whatevers and did a bit of journaling.

This summer I'm taking a drawing class as I want to add some "diy" visuals to my journals.

Travel Journal

All this talk of holidays brought to mind one of my 'reasons' for buying notebooks. Travel Journals. I've recorded various short trips in my time usually with stories of what's happened. I'm soon due to visit Austin, Texas and plan to do my own personal 'Rough Guide to...'
Moleskin have produced some notebooks for certain cities that you add your own highlights to but they are only for major cities. I'm going to use a pocket size travel journal from Paperchase and add in places I visit, restaurants, shops etc. Aslo thinking on the Highland Coo story, things I didn't do but want to do next time. I've visited Austin many times before but haven't done this before. We'll see if I can stop drinking margaritas long enough to write it!

Highland Cow

And incidentally tootru- glad you liked it here, I have split allegience between the two cities but West is best... You can see a Highland cow in Glasgow, if only you'd known at Pollok park

I did find that out my last day there, but I was already heading for the train station to head back to Leeds to spend a couple days in Huddersfield with some friends.

And now I know where from - I have to say that Glasgow smote me much more than did Edinburgh. It seems like there's such a lively arts and music scene there. I could see myself living there. And the gardens - can't remember the name - were divine. I spent a morning just walking 'round and enjoying the green.

I have told my husband in no uncertain terms that we will be visiting Scotland someday. He must see it.

t.

Welcome!

Your statement sums it all up, "I've been trying lately to cut down my obsessive notebook purchasing realising number of notebooks isn't in fact a sign of productivity." But, how I love to buy new notebooks!!! Welcome to the group who feels the more notebooks you have, the cooler you are! :) ha ha ha

Great to have you here!
Greetings!

I don't know about you, but when I visited Scotland and other parts of the UK, I was sucked in to several stationers, art supply stores and even just corner shops that had wonderful paper things! Maybe it's just because it's different.

Where in Scotland do you live? Unfortunately I only got to visit Edinburgh and Glasgow (and a day trip up to Loch Lomond). I was thoroughly smitten and yet disappointed that I never got to see a highlands cow.

New Member from Scotland

Hi there

I've used the site for quite a while now and thought maybe I should join. I am both a gadget freak and a stationery freak but dont find them mutually exclusive.

I've been trying lately to cut down my obsessive notebook purchasing realising number of notebooks isn't in fact a sign of productivity. The trouble is when I look at some of the links on this site Levenger for example, I'm glad I live in the UK. In the US I'd be bankrupt and no more productive. Planning accessories would look hot though.........

Anyway, hi all.......
