Split ring? Did I miss it? Never knew there was such a thing until I got confused. Three rings at top and three rings on the bottom, or holes if you like. So the rest of your paper doesn't fit...

After I wrote this post, I received am email from one of the administrators from DIY saying great idea and they could set me up if I wished, I wrote back and said yes. But, never heard from anyone again. They're probably busy and will get to me later maybe.

also, English is not my first language, Alceria (beautiful name by the way) it is true, and until very recently I didnt know what analog and digital really meant at the etymological level. So y ou are right!

Um.....nevermind. I thought you were serious about your list, I didn't see the bottom part. I was starting to think you weren't a native English speaker because who doesn't know common words like analog, digital, etc.

1)I think they are best referred to as notches, not holes - they aren't fully surrounded by paper.

2)Technically, the piece of paper that is punched out, regardless of shape is a chad. Our terminology here is most properly applied to the mushroom-shaped notch left behind.

Smurfing is the act of punching Rollabind/Circa smurfs/holes (not proper to use the noun form of a word in a definition, so we should probably use "hole" here) in a piece of paper. A smurf is either the mushroom-shaped hole, or the little scrap of paper that comes out when smurfed by the punch. Although, maybe the proper term for the whole would be a smurfed hole or smurf-shaped hole.

How's that sound? Improvements anybody?

You have Oo, but it should be OOo, which is, I believe, the "official" abbreviation for OpenOffice.org (which is its official name). It's pedantic, I know, but some people are like that.... (no, not me!!! I _swear_!!!)

I have been compiling a little glossary as I am learning on this site. Below is just a teeny start. Do you think this would be useful on DIY PLanner as a page somewhere?

If you think so and the administrators (I am not sure who they are exactly and hate to guess wrong... someone tell me please? ) would like to upload it once it is done, it could be useful to newbies like me who read many posts but dont understand the jargon completely.

So, something like this: (Of course with definitions filled in)

If you think this is ok and have some words to add, please let me know. You can email me privately also.
