DETAILS DUDE!!

Sooooo, how many pages can it do at a time?

How thick a piece of stock will it punch?

Does it automatically insert the discs for you too?

Can you separate the two processes, or does it always install the discs at the same time?

Is it easy to crank, electronic, or do you really have to stand on the lever to get it to punch through its maximum thickness?

How many cutters/punches does it have?

... ???

talk to Ygor about his Circa-nator

Actually, he called it the Circa Maximus

He found a steal for one of Rolla's quasi-industrial models on e-bay. There was a fair amount of crowing about it initially, and lots of promises of pictures. But never have any been posted.

I'm beginning to dis-believe!!

I *think* what he got was something like the Rollabind PBS 2000. But I'm not so sure.

Are you listening Ygor, I'm beginning to dis-believe.
Show us some pics!!

pretty please!

8 sheets/ a few sheets...

...it is the same to me. What I would like is something that can punch at least 1/4 inch of material, preferrably more.

Any ideas where to find something like that?

My Circa desktop punch can do up to 8 sheets of regular paper at a time. That's more than a few sheets of paper.

What about the mega-punch

that Ygor scored on ebay? Does that monster punch the same sized smurfs? Not that I would get one...just curious. I do like the roomier smurfs in the pre-punched Levenger paper, but don't like the paper itself.

(My experience / observation) They are identical

Levenger/Circa and Rollabind punches are, by my observation and experience, identical with respect to the punched hole -- we call them "smurfs", both the holes and the punched-out paper.

I have seen a small variation of smurf size in the pre-punched papers, but the punches themselves produce identical smurfs.

The only notable difference is that Rollabind desktop punch has 12 dies while the Levenger desktop punch has 11.
Rollabind Desk Punch vs. Levenger Circa Desk Punch

These punches look identical online. Is the size and depth of the hole punched by Rollabind exactly the same size and depth as the Levenger one? The pre-punched Levenger pages fit looser on the discs than when you punch your own pages with a Levenger punch - the holes are slightly deeper into the page and slightly wider in the semi-circle area. I was hoping Rollabind was slightly larger with their punches. I thought Levenger created this system, but have been informed that Rollabind actually "invented" this system.

Please advise on the hole sizes since you have both brands. THANKS SO MUCH!!

My experience with them...

Has generally been positive, except for the last order I made. I had a 20% discount code and ordered the portable Rollabind punch. They emailed me back and said that it was discontinued (!) and wanted to know if I wanted to cancel the order. I said that "I might be interested in the desk punch instead if I can still get the 20% off. Please let me know." I was expecting a response via email, but instead they notified me that they were shipping my order with the desk punch substituted and charged my credit card for the new order. Even though I decided not to contest it, I was a little upset that our communication failed. I wanted to give it some more thought before agreeing to a substitution.

In any case, I now have both Levenger and Rollabind desk punches, and they're identical, except for the "extra" die on the Rollabind. And, equally lethal as a club if someone tries to break into the house. :-) (they weigh five pounds apiece!)

So, I keep one at work and one at home, which is actually more convenient.

I've ordered from Wilde-Ideas, given another poster's issues with ordering from Rollabind. It sounds like there's a punch shortage going on. (c:

We'll see how it goes.

I'm very excited to get the punch as I also just figured out that I'm going to make a personal inspiration journal for a friend for our Secret Santa exchange, and the punch will be integral to it.

A word of warning

I have dealt with Wilde-Ideas and have had no problem, but other folks here have had some downright nasty experiences from them.
My spin on it was that Wilde-Ideas was trying too hard to offer perks and discounts, got themselves tangled up, and then rather than admit their blunder, took it out on the customer, both financially and emotionally.

I am not saying "Avoid them", but I am saying "Shop carefully"

Circa vs. Rollabind Punch

Ok ... so I just found out that the Circa desk punch, which was supposed to be available for shipping today is now backordered until December 30th.

I'm really kind of peeved that I had to call to find this out, rather than getting an e-mail or some other notification that the backorder date had changed.

Be that as it may, I'd really like to get my notebooks going and the punch is pretty integral to doing so.

Does anyone here have any experience with the Rollabind punch? Is it essentially the same, or is there an advantage (other than the 20% discount code I had) to waiting for the Levenger punch?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
tru

P.S. I'm kinda new here, but haven't properly introduced myself ... cart before the horse and all that. Please forgive?
