Planner Pad solution

I really like the Planner Pad format, too, especially after I quit using them for a couple years. I planned to buy a new set this fall but am put off by the "special" price. It's Sept and the "special" for Apr08-March09 verion is still more than 1/2 price for a full year. Used to be you could get some undated or end of year pages free or for a few bucks if you bought a complete new year.

The Planner Pad style templates others created and graciously uploaded to DIY are nice but pages are too small for my good leather Personal Pages size binder. However, I did come up with a solution...and without spending hours of trial and error trying to create my own template.

I found an old spiral bound Planner Pad from 2003 in my files, and luckily found a two page (one week) spread with only a few notes and used white out to delete them.

Then I:
1. Scanned each side of the two pages into a separate graphic files.
2. Inserted them into Publisher to re-add a few blocked out lines.
3. Placed white boxes over any lingering smudges.
4. Placed a box over the old tiny monthly calendars in the bottom corner of the right hand page.
5. For each page of graphics, selected all and grouped the image into one image per page.
6. Choose Save Picture and resaved each jpeg image, one left page and one right.

I inserted the two images into two different pages in Word, used narrow margins and right align for the righthand page, and left align for the lefthand one. Then printed both pages out on nice bright white paper. There's plenty of room for 3 or 7 ring hole punching. Or you can rescale the image to fit a Circa size. And, saved the Word file as docx, doc and template formats. :)

I'm pretty happy with the quality of the print out even though I need to hand-write the months, week spans dates, and daily dates. I'm planning to have copies made on decent weight paper. Just need to trim paper a bit, punch and I'm ready.

I considered uploading my images but since I didn't create anything, just scanned in originals I figured that would be a copyright violation. But, I thought others here might like be interested in my DIY solution. :)

Kat

Try contacting the author

If you go thru Google, you can see where it used to be. It was removed on or about 9 September. Only the author or an admin can do that.

It was not me.

Can anyone tell me where I

Can anyone tell me where I can download the AgendaPerso_GTD_en.ods file? I've downloaded Open Office but am having quite a time finding this file? It's not Open Office, it's me. Forgive my inexperience, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Your purchase is well justified.....

Just came across this planner and really like it. Great that you can personalise it too.

Sounds like the £32 is a great investment. Say diary pages are a fiver a year, you'll have your money back pretty much by 2014 ;-)

I think any stationery item doesn't need to be justified....

Sorry - solved problem!

Thanks - but the simplest solution is the best - cut paper FIRST! and reduce the level of options that the printer (the apparent non-thinking part of this partnership) has to play with. I am now totally over the top with the agenda - have altered it slightly (more space in diary area, less in projects etc), added colour coding and am sadly presently putting arrows over the times when I lecture (which are the fixed points in life) - this is all so I can justify purchasing the £32 hole punch for the filofax A5 (and the new filofax!) by reducing the cost of having to buy diary inserts!

update on use of OpenOffice

Well, I have managed to install OpenOffice and opened the AgendaPerso_GTD_en file in - then changed the date as prompted to get the first four weeks that I want - so am feeling slightly proud of myself. However, as a newbie, I am getting confused with how to print on both sides - am using the A5 format - do I print out the odd pages first, turn over and then print out the evens?

Will have a play - should be doing some work but this seems like a better thing to do.

Download the ODS file

If you download the AgendaPerso_GTD_en.ods file you can use it to generate pages for yourself. Enter a start data and the OpenOffice.org spreadsheet setups up printable pages for four weeks onward from that date. (Actually clever enough to adjust the date backwards if necessary; I used 1/1/2009 and the spreadsheet gave me a page commencing on MOnday 28 Dec 2008.)

Emmanuel17, I love your template so much-Can I have your baby??

Seriously,

I have tried more time management systems than I can count. Plannerpads is the only one which works for my ADHD, hyper-focused mind. Working off a paper copy of my calendar/to do/priorities list is essential. Too many distractions on a computer or PDA.

This template is perfect because I can insert and deleted rows in the sections according to my needs, and use excel functions to auto fill from my to do lists.

I tried to create it myself a few times, but always end up struggling with format-and give up.

THANKYOU!THANKYOU!THANKYOU!

Jackie

Do you have a printer that does duplex ?

If so, then just print it duplex.

If not, try this information: Dynamic Template Printing Non Duplex printer
Holler if you have questions.
