So my first order was shipped Fedex Home Delivery... My order I placed yesterday 10/27 shipped via Smartpost. Both orders I chose the cheapest shipping. Cross my fingers and hope that my package gets to me quick

Recent results

I ordered on a Friday afternoon and received my package the following Tuesday or Wednesday at lunch. Paid extra for Fedex because the last time time I ordered from Levenger and chose USPS/Smartpost, my items took two weeks to travel from one side of our state (where the warehouse is) to the other. Of course, the package also had to take a vacation to Wisconsin or Minnesota in the meantime.

Good luck. Although I like the UPS deliveryman that handles my area, I've always gotten better service from FedEx.

A little Concerned

I just ordered a very nice Red leather zipped portfolio for my friend for his birthday. I am having it directly shipped to a print company to have it debossed with his name. I am now, however, very concerned that it will take a couple of weeks to get there. If I had read the comments on this site prior to purchasing something from Levenger.com, I would have chosen the more expensive shipping (even though I felt I was already being overcharged).

The shipping was $12 for the $118 (including tax) item I purchased. I could have shipped this with UPS Ground for about $5.

Their products are already kind of on the expensive side. You would think they wouldn't be trying to make a huge margin on the shippping too. One would also think that if the shipping company a business is using is not performing, they would seek out a different shipper.

I'm praying (and for $12 expecting) my package to arrive in a week.

Sorry, I didn't mean that the shipping was expensive at Renaissance Art, just that you can be stung for taxes and charges by FedEx which are far above the rate of VAT here in the UK; they can easily be $40-50, on top of the shipping. It's just something to take into account when you buy expensive stuff from overseas.
Could be worse

I grouched at UPS a few years back to the point where I had them require my signature for anything delivered to my address. What a pain in the a** that was. They would never attempt delivery when someone was home. I'd get a sticky on my door. Even if I called that day, I would not be able to pick it up the next day, but the day AFTER THAT.

They do not care. Complaining will only get you on their s**t list. Took me years to get off of it.

I got mine using UPS. And the guy is a jerk, too. He knocks, doesn't wait, and picks up my DIRTY door mat that is disgusting (hey, it's a doormat, it collects dirt) and sets the 10 inch tall box underneath it. Yeah, that's going to stop someone from seeing it.

I've called and complained about him leaving packages, as this area my packages are stolen all the time. There is nothing that can be done. I'm about to go key his vehicle the next time LOL ;) *joking* but seriously, I've ran after his truck before to complain. He still does it.

exactly...

exactly, paul, i see your point. i tried ordering last year and of course similar things happened, so i thought i should try again this year, while at the same time hoping for miracles. the shipping calculator of my order said $39.XX, and i thought the total of my shipping should be about $5x.XX, which was still acceptable given the weight of the paper and all.

but of course, the shipping total came out FIVE times more expensive than the shipping total the calculator gave me...

oh, as for renaissance art, i calculated the modular system i want to buy (the letter size) and it's slight fewer than $50 to ship to hong kong. and given the weight of that, i think it's quite reasonable. at least, the shipping cost isn't even one-fifth of the item total.

Levenger Shipping

In recent weeks us folks here in Memphis (close to a Levenger warehouse) have seen all the distribution companies make a mad dash to FEDEX ground. The rates generally are less to the shipper.

In a 1 day delivery zone - like me, anything is OK. My preference is UPS ground from anywhere else.

For what it's worth.

Be aware too

that as well as the high shipping costs to the UK, you can have the total almost doubled again by import duties and taxes. FedEx seem to include the shipping cost in the taxable cost (as it shows on the invoice), plus of course they add in their own admin costs.

I've had the same issue with FedEx when buying stuff from Renaissance Art - not just Levenger. I'm sure it makes a bundle for FedEx, but it's just something you have to figure into your calculations when deciding what you can afford.

International Levenger shipping

My experience is similar to that of Flo:

I originally placed an order for 3 items. Shipping cost quoted on the order? $35.95. (Total order value < $150).
However, Levenger have to "confirm" shipping for international orders. Goodness knows why. The quote that came in? $97.

Let's just take a moment to reflect on that. Levenger, as a business, seem to think that shipping costs amount to 2/3 of the order value is perfectly acceptable. And their customer service and management systems don't flag this as an issue, either operationally or as a customer service experience problem.

Not only does that rankle on its own account. That cost is three times what the order process says. And this is isn't the first time such a problem occured.
Not only do their international customers pay through the nose if they can get away with it, but their web site sucks. How can it be possible in this age of e-commerce to have an actual cost 3 times that estimated.

So I told my what I thought. And then I decided to see where the cost comes from. I placed a single item order for the Shirt Pocket Briefcase with monogram - $44. Estimated shipping - $25. I will update the post when Customer Service let me know the 'actual'. I will also place single item orders for the other items and see what happens.

For the moment, it feels to me as if Levenger are gouging their international customers. No way should it cost nearly $100 to send a small box containing less than $150 of value across the Atlantic.

So, whatever "ongoing investigation" happened, one year later it has achieved absolutely nothing.

levenger shipping still an issue

hey, just caught up with this thread. Living in the UK, I _wish_ they only charged $9 shipping for this item.
Try www.Rollabind.com

You can get Rollabind products that Circa products will fit into. I just purchased a leather-like vinyl cover that I put the 2008 Circa agenda into and it came to only $21. They also have a portable punch for less than $10. If you can't find anything there, you can try ebay or overstock.com.

i think it's lucky that u people can actually ORDER from levenger. i live in this small city aka hong kong and last time i tried ordering a circa (leather cover, letter size), 300 refill sheets and 22 extra large discs, the total of my items came up to about $14X.XX. i almost had a heart attack when they gave me the shipping quote: $137.XX via Fedex.

Think about it. The total would be about $300. This is certainly too much. I mean, they have great customer service and all but with the shipping rates and limited shipping options, i dun think i'll ever buy anything from them.

so, if anyone of u has the red leather circa to sell, used or unused, drop me a message.

Levenger shipping?

Who does Levenger use for standard shipping? The shipping email I received says USPS, but when I click on the tracking link, it takes me to a FedEx page...does the USPS use FedEx tracking?

Has anyone else noticed that the shipping seems ridiculously slow (which I could ascribe to either the USPS or FedEx, as I don't trust either very far)? (This isn't Levenger's fault, btw; they got it out the door but the shipper's taking forever.) My tracking tells me that my Circa went from TN to MI in about three days (though I see it arrived in one sortation center on the 12th and didn't leave it until the 14th...wtf?).

So now it's in Michigan and has been since the 15th, but it tells me it won't be at my house until the 19th (originally it said the 20th). It can go halfway across the country in three days and it takes three or four more to go across my state???

Has this happened to anyone else? I've never seen the USPS or FedEx so bloody slow before!! It's not like this thing shipped Media Mail!
