Nearly all the lines in my templates are set at 20% opacity or less. I find that to be the perfect weight to act as a guide without affecting the legibility of what I'm writing.

I saw that yesterday test printing. Visually in OOo, there's no blank pages. If you look, though, you see that every visible page is odd numbered. Printing all gives you 50% blank pages.

Fortunate that I'm redesigning anyway. I'll have to figure out what went wrong with it and avoid it next time.

On my mac, in Preview, every other page is blank. Don't know if that was intentional or not...

Needed. I'll have to look at that a bit later. Printing order doesn't work, as I expected.

I'll either convert the images into a slightly more complex layout to account for pagination, or, more likely, convert it to full page, 8.5X11 and let my print driver do the bookletization to Classic.

Well, took a few minutes last night to tweak a new merge. Amazing what happens when you sync the margins of the graphic to the writer page! Everything suddenly matched. So, now I have a completely merged 2008, 2 page per day, classic sized planner. Now, all that's left is adding some pages, like 2008-2009 multi-month per page, month pages at month breaks, personal info, and maybe some addy book pages. It's still based on the Flickr links above with some minimal changes.

Well, I carved out a bit of time and implemented my design changes based on some light usage. The new version, large, is here.

From playing some since yesterday, I've found the following changes will need to be made:

- Re-align the time/list reference on the right hand page to the right margin. Shifts whole page right a bit. The references on the right just don't work for me.
- Eliminate the columns on the below the time slots
- Possibly add a designator somewhere for the 1/2 hour differential.

So far, the rest seems to work. More testing to follow.

A certain famous individual (or at least famous in my eyes) gave me a great bit of insight when designing templates... use a gray rather than a black for dividing lines. I'm not sure how often you "run over" your boundary lines so it may not effect you at all, but for people like me (read as: long winded heheh)it can help keep your writing prominent :)

Well, I've mused about converting the Harvard to circa, and most recently, tried to find where all my time was going, how to better capture it. Maybe I found it... Not sure yet, until I test it.

I've uploaded a png to flickr. It's a single, classic-sized page showing the layout.

If you have the chance, click over. Let me know your thoughts. I'm going to play with using it a bit soon.
